For the fourth year, we will be convening education innovators. At ExCITe, STEAM is more than education. It’s the belief that the creativity and “maker” spirit that is common to both the Arts & Design and the STEM fields provides a relentless source of inspiration and innovation. Most importantly, the convening of diverse perspectives spanning STEM and the Arts offers unique opportunities to share ideas, form new connections, and sow the seeds of transformation.
We'll have case study speakers including Dr. Kareem Edouard speaking about the Learning Innovation National Maker Space Survey, students from the Centennial School District, Debora Lui from Penn GSE, Tanya Ruley-Mayo of Education Works, Meredith Martin from Science Leadership Academy Middle School, as well as our keynote speaker Dr. Paula Hooper.
Paula Hooper is an assistant professor of instruction in the Master of Science in Education program and Learning Sciences. She received her PhD from the MIT Media Lab. Her research addresses how children come to understand computational ideas from a sociocultural perspective and how to support educators in the design of learning environments that use digital tools to engage all learners in learning through making.
